Tuna Pasta for the Busy Parent

Two Ways to Prepare a Tuna Pasta

Tuna pasta is a firm favourite in my family and is something that my children will easily eat. Both recipes are quick, easy and delicious. One of them is for when you have more time on your hands and want to enjoy the cooking process more. The other is for when you have less time. I chop and change between both.

  • Add the passata sauce and let the mixture simmer on a low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Add the tuna and let it simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Dish up pasta and serve the mixture with olives, if each person wants them (my son won’t eat them, but the rest of us do).

  • 4-5 Tins of tuna, 125 g each

  • Cook the pasta in a pot according to the cooking instructions.
  • In a separate pan, fry the carrots and courgette in olive oil for 4-5 minutes.

Sage Nutrition Serving and Storage Tips

  • Choose wholemeal or lentil pasta (or a mixture of both) to make a fibre fuss.
  • When purchasing store-bought pasta sauce, look for one that is lower in sugar, salt, and fat per 100g. Many store-bought sauces contain excessive amounts of added sugar, salt, and fat.
  • You can add other vegetables, such as sliced peppers, but my children won’t eat them for now.
  • I tend to serve pasta first, then the tuna mixture per person, rather than mixing all the pasta and tuna mixture and then serving it. It helps with portion control and less waste. I also find I have extra pasta for the next couple of days that the kids can have with cheese, salmon, or anything else.
  • Serve with parmesan or any other cheese if you wish.
